A Glimpse into the Curfewed Nights by Basharat Peer!

Gone are the days

When I used to collect snow

From the rooftop of my home

In the bowls with my brother.

The uneventful evenings of Kahwa

And saffron-flavored pink tea

Live in my memories only

Now that my home is on disputed land

The freedom life was meant to breath

Got crushed under the weight

Of brood-oozing bodies

Of ‘friends’ and ‘terrorists’

Who is who

Depends on individual perception

Of the powerful and powerless

Politics it is- no more, no less.
